- King George V-class battleship [HMS King George V (commissioned 1940), HMS Prince of Wales (1941), HMS Duke of York (1941), HMS Anson (1942) & HMS Howe (1942)]
- Battle of the Denmark Strait (22 May 1941) - Intercepting battleship Bismarck & heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen - HMS Prince of Wales, was with battlecruiser HMS Hood (sank, 1,419 crewmen were killed. Only 3 men survived) and six destroyers.
- Battle of Malaya (マレー沖海戦) - Sinking of Prince of Wales and Repulse (10 December 1941) - Force Z (battleship Prince of Wales, battlecruiser Repulse and destroyers Electra, Express, Tenedos and HMAS Vampire) was ordered to attack Japanese transports at Kota Bharu, Prince of Wales and Repulse were bombed and hit by torpedoes from G3M Nell & G4M Betty at 11:00 and both were sunk ~2hrs later.
