- Indian Ocean Raid [31 Mar ~10 Apr 1942]

- Solomon Islands campaign [4~5 September 1942] - assisted in sinking the high-speed transports USS Gregory & USS Little.
- Battle of Cape Esperance [11~12 October 1942] - rescued 518 survivors from heavy cruiser Furutaka (古鷹),
- [14 October 1942] - escorted badly damaged heavy cruiser Aoba (青葉) to Truk.
- Naval Battle for Guadalcanal [12–15 November 1942] - assisted in sinking USS Benham, USS Walke & USS Preston and damaging USS Gwin. (with cruiser Nagara)
- [December 1942] - escorted aircraft carrier Hiyō to Kure for repairs.
- [March 1943] - returned to Kure for refit.
- [May 1943] - escorted aircraft carrier Taiyō (大鷹).
- [June 1943] - returned to Rabaul, "Tokyo Express" missions.
- Battle of Kula Gulf [5 July 1943] - was hit by American cruisers & destroyers.
- [17 July 1943] - was bombed by USAAF aircraft and sank
