  • Aleutians campaign [3 June 1942] - towing the damaged Hibiki back to Chishima Islands.
  • [late July 1942] - escort for the new aircraft carriers Zuihō & Unyō to Truk.
  • "Tokyo Express” [October 1942] - high speed transport runs from Tokyo to the Solomon Islands.
  • [25 October 1942] - conducted a daylight raid off Guadalcanal, with Ikazuchi & Shiratsuyu
  • Naval Battle of Guadalcanal [12~13 November 1942] - Akatsuki was sunk by US destroyers and cruisers on 13 November 1942.
