- Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN)
- 4th Kongō-class battlecruiser, named after Mount Haruna.
- Commissioned:19 April 1915 (reconstruction to fast battleship in 1933)
- Second Sino-Japanese War [late 1937]
- Invoice of Singapore, Malaya & Dutch East Indies [December 1941 ~ 1942] - Haruna with Maya(摩耶), Hiryū(飛龍) & Sōryū(蒼龍 ).
- [9 April 1942] - assited in sinking Royal Navy carrier HMS Hermes.
- Battle of Midway [4~7 June 1942] - with her sister ship Kirishima(霧島).
- Guadalcanal Campaign - Haruna & Kongō(金剛) bombarded Henderson Field on 13~14 October 1942, with 973 14-inch shells from a distance of 15km.
- Naval Battle of Guadalcanal [12~15 November 1942] - Hiei(比叡) & Kirishima(霧島) was sunk.
- Battle of the Philippine Sea [19~20 June 1944] - Haruna was hit by two 500 lb armor-piercing bombs on 20 June 1944 from U.S. carrier aircraft. And was drydocked in Kure for repairs and refitting on 24 June 1944.
- Battle of Leyte Gulf [23~26 October 1944] - Battle of the Sibuyan Sea [24 October 1944] - Battle off Samar [25 October 1944]
- [1945] - Haruna was transferred to Kure for full repairs and upgrading.
- [28 July 1945] - Haruna was sunk by American aircraft at Kure. (Hyūga日向 was sunk on 24 July 1945)
