- Edo Castle (江戸城), also known as Chiyoda Castle (千代田城)
- a flatland castle built in 1457 by Ōta Dōkan.
- Tokugawa Ieyasu (徳川家康 1543~1616)) established the Tokugawa shogunate (徳川幕府1600~1868). The castle functioned as the military capital during the Edo period of Japanese history.
- After the resignation of the shōgun and the Meiji Restoration, it became the Tokyo Imperial Palace.
