- Battle of Rabaul (23 January ~ February 1942) - returned to Truk for repairs on 25 March 1942.
- The Solomon Islands Campaign (29 June 1942) - Yubari sank the heavy cruiser USS Vincennes and damaged destroyer USS Ralph Talbot in Battle of Savo Island (9 August 1942)
- Yūbari was hit by 2 torpedoes from submarine USS Bluegill and sank at Palau 27 April 1944
