- Feb 1941, HMS Norfolk was the second ship to sight the German battleship Bismarck.. HMS Norfolk & HMS Suffolk continued to trail Bismarck. The cruisers later joined the battleships HMS Rodney & HMS King George V and finally sank Bismarck on 27 May 1941.
- 26 Dec 1943 - Battle of the North Cape - HMS Norfolk scored three hits on the German shipScharnhorst , which was later sunk by Royal Navy battleship HMS Duke of York and her escorts.
