  • commissioned: 30 August 1923
  • Second Sino-Japanese War - escorted the convoys transporting the IJA 10th Division to northern China, after the Marco Polo Bridge Incident (盧溝橋事變) of 7 July 1937.
  • Battle of Wake Island [8~10 December 1941]
  • [29 December 1941[ -  rescued all crewmen of the submarine Ro-60.
  • [14 July ~ 7 November 1942] -  based in Rabaul.
  • [1 January 1944] - based at Kure
  • [summer of 1944] - main guns were replaced with 18 Type 96 25-mm antiaircraft guns.
  • [11 August 1944] - transport for supplies and reinforcements to Okinawa.
  • [19 September 1944] - on her 4th mission to Okinawa, Jingei was torpedoed near Naha by USS Scabbardfish.
  • [10 October 1944] - the immobile Jingei was attacked by Allied aircraft from USS Hancock and sank.
